You have just bought that dream bike of yours. Waiting to get it on the Highway, get the engine thumping, wind on your face. STOP! You need to prep up before you get your beauty on the road. No bike ride is complete without the right accessories, they keep the rider safe and keep the journey comfortable.

1. Helmet

You can always ride with the wind in your hair, the bugs on your face, BUT, there are some definite advantages of using a helmet. Helmets keep you and your pretty brain safe. Easy access to Blue Tooth kits, which again help you concentrate on the road. And the final reason has to be having a smooth insect free ride! To ensure that your helmet is fully capable of protecting you, always buy a new helmet from a reputable retailer and then treat it like a baby, never allowing it to fall to the ground or otherwise be damaged. Also according to a study published by Dietmar Otte, 45% of all impacts to motorcycle helmets occur around the face, in an area not covered by open-face. So you really, really, really want to be wearing a full-face helmet

TheMard recommends - Studds Ninja Full Face

2. Leather Gloves

When you are falling, the first thing you will do is try and support yourself with your hands. So I would definitely give more importance to Gloves than a riding jacket. The industry has evolved a lot in India, so you now get the best stuff pretty easily. Look for something which leaves no gap between the Jacket and the gloves, should be made of abrasion resistant material like leather and finally should have protection around your knuckles.

TheMard recommends - Cramster Flux Gloves

3. Riding Jacket

Jackets these days come in either Leather or High quality textile material like 1000 denier Cordura. Irrespective of the material they come with options to seal out Cold air or let in cool air through vents. A riding jacket will definitely make you look way cooler (helps hide that extra layer of fat). A must buy!

TheMard recommends – Cramster Breezer Jacket

4. Riding Boots

A safety accessory. You don’t want to get you feet exposed to the road while you are riding at 80km/hr! The main thing for a Riding boot is that it should have be sturdy and have ankle protection. So your work boots might just make the cut, but definitely not your High end running shoes

TheMard recommends – Quechua Forclaz 500

5. USB Charging unit + Holder

When you are riding, you will use the GPS, that’s a given. Ensure you buy a holder/pocket to keep the phone fixed on your fuel tank, so that you can see the route clearly. Issue with the GPS is that you will lose battery charge and you will lose it fast. A definite requirement is a phone charger which can connect to your bike’s battery and charge the phone without discharging your vehicle’s battery.

TheMard recommends - Bolt Charger + Pocket

6. Saddle Bags

A rider can only go as far as her provisions will carry her -an old man on a bike. Get a good pair of saddlebags to carry all the stuff you want to carry for your long ride. Ensure that its got a stable design, All weather proof and matches the style of your Enfield

TheMard recommends - Cramster Stallion Saddlebags

7. Bungee Cord

This is that trick which every experienced rider will tell you about -How to use a cord to magically hold everything on the seat of your bike! The cord ensures that you can strap on almost anything that does not fit onto your saddlebag on top your rear seat.

TheMard recommends - Mototech MT0002Bk90 Bungee Cord
